30th September - 5th October 2020 - Cost £1,085 pp (sharing a room) Single supplement £185

This year's tour will be based in a 3* star hotel Menton for five nights with a full programme of visits. Highlights include the Chapelle de Saint Pierre des Pecheurs, Foundation Maeght, the Marc Chagall Museum and the stunning Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild, Villa Kerylos and the Serre de la Madone Gardens.

This tour has been arranged by Travel Editions with EasyJet flights from Gatwick.

Price £1,085pp (single supplement £185), including breakfast daily and three dinners, entrance fees, gratuities for tour manager, coach driver and local guides.

Day 1 - Wednesday 30th September - Arrive independently at Gatwick for EasyJet flight to Nice at 11.25hrs arriving at 14.30hrs. Transfer to Villefranche-sur-Mer to visit the Chapelle de Saint Pierre des Pecheurs to view Cocteau's famous murals. Continue to Quality Hotel Mediterranee, Menton and check in for 5 nights. Welcome Drink and dinner (including a glass of wine, tea/coffee) at the hotel this evening.

Day 2 - Thursday 1st October - Walking tour of the Old Town of Menton, including a visit to the Salle des Marriages decorated by Cocteau in 1957. Time for lunch (not included) followed by an afternoon visit to the Sierre de la Madone gardens in the hills above Menton. Rest of the afternoon and evening at leisure.

Day 3 - Friday 2nd October - Visit the Matisse Rosary Chapel at Vence followed by a visit to the Fondation Maeght, one of the great galleries of France with its enormous range of paintings, ceramics and stained glass and sculpture. Continue to St. Paul de Vence for independent exploration and lunch (not included). Return to Menton via Cagnes sur Mer where the Maison les Collettes contains ten paintings by Renoir who lived here until his death in 1919. Dinner (including a glass of wine, tea/coffee) at the hotel this evening.

Day 4 - Saturday 3rd October - Travel to Nice where we have a visit to the Chagall Museum followed by independent exploration of the wealth of museums, galleries which the city has to offer as well as the Old Town, the lovely port, the Promenade des Anglais and Russian church. Return to hotel late afternoon and evening at leisure.

Day 5 - Sunday 4th October - Visit to the Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild, with its lush gardens, at Cap Ferrat. Time for lunch in the villa's restaurant (not included) followed by a visit to the Villa Kerylos in Beaulieu-sur-Mer. Return to Menton. Dinner (including a glass of wine, tea/coffee) in a local restaurant this evening.

Day 6 - Monday 5th October - There will be some free time in Menton before leaving for La Turbie. Built 2,000 years ago by the Romans to the glory of the Emperor Augustus, the Tropheé d'Auguste originally stood 49 metres high and was topped by a giant statue of the Emperor. Time for lunch (not included) before continuing to Nice for the the return flight to Gatwick leaving at 17.40hrs and arriving at 18.45hrs.
