British Art at Home - Charleston Farmhouse and Farley’s House and Gallery - UNFORTUNATELY THIS VISIT WILL NOW NOT TAKE PLACE
Thursday 21 May 2020

Join us for this day exploring some major 20th century British artists visiting two fascinating homes.

In the morning, we will visit Charleston Farmhouse, the Bloomsbury home of art and ideas.

We will have a tour of the farmhouse relating the story of Vanessa Bell, Duncan Grant and their family and friends, from their arrival at the house in 1916 to the foundation of the Charleston Trust in the 1980s. The tour will last approximately one hour.

There will be free time to visit the garden, shop and gallery before going on to an included lunch at the Cricketer's Arms, Berwick.

After lunch we will go on to Farleys House and galleries; 'home of the surrealists'. Here we will be given a tour of the house and an introduction us to the lives and art of Lee Miller, Roland Penrose and their friends. The tour takes about 50 minutes.

There will be free time to explore the sculpture garden or browse in the small gift shop. Exhibitions are held in the adjacent gallery where tea and coffee can also be purchased.
